RASSOULI
is a visionary artist who is known
for his unique style of Fusionart.
He migrated to the United States
from Iran as a young man and is
currently residing in Southern
California.
Guided
by his Sufi uncle, Rassouli grew up
hearing and reading mystical poetry
while studying under painting
masters, and eagerly searching
volumes of artistic works of varied
traditions and styles. He roamed the
art museums, won awards for his
paintings, and traveled in classical
Europe as a teenager prior to coming
to the United States in 1963 to
further explore his artistic drive.
Here, he studied fine arts and
architecture at the University of
New Mexico and environmental
psychology at the University of
Southern California.
Although
he practiced architecture for a
time, painting ultimately became his
overpowering passion and his
profession. Through the years,
Rassouli has created hundreds of
canvases, in his unique style of
Fusionart, which invite the viewer
into the creative power of the heart
and the wonder and beauty of the
soul. His artistic expressions are
radiant with a life-giving and
captivating energy that arouse the
imagination.
The
conceptual approach of Fusionart has
been developing in Rassouli since
early childhood, which is evident in
the expansive scope and variety of
his creative work. Rassouli
paints with rags, with his fingers,
and uses his favorite brushes when
he feels moved to enhance what is
happening on the canvas. He begins
with a canvas primed with black
paint and brings the light of vision
to it developing a relationship with
the appearing images as he creates.
Within
the past thirty years, He has
exhibited widely in the United
States, Europe and Asia and has
created several major murals.
Rassouli's art has been featured in
numerous books and periodicals,
including several books that he has
written and some of them are
available on this web site. He
guides others in retreats, shares
his approach to creativity through
public talks, in radio interviews,
in videos and films, but nowhere
does he witness to his creativity
more magically than through his
paintings.

Creation
is
the product of synchronizing our
energy with the universe. Once we
experience the whole and recognize
it, we become aware that we are
nothing but the Divine Creative
Force.
I
do not start a painting with
sketches, I do not paint on location
and I do not work from photos.
Instead, many mornings, before the
dawn, I climb a mountain to its
peak. There , sitting in solitude, I
observe rising of the sun. I watch
plants open their leaves, buds tear
up their dresses and the birds sing
to the arrival of their creator.
There is an interconnected serenity
that allows all creatures to
experience the divine unity. Having
felt that creative energy, I rush to
my studio, dip my brush into paint,
and let it move freely on canvas.
My
paintings
are inspirational for they allow the
observer to experience infinite
viewpoints and perceptions. They are
not abstract for they represent what
is actually more real than what our
eyes are able to see. They allow the
viewers to be inspired by taking
their own perception beyond their
senses and their surroundings.
"Relationship"
is
the most important aspect of my
work. I believe that dream and
reality coexist in this world. Light
and shadow, nature and concepts,
technology and feeling, the actual
and the imaginary exist together.
My
art
expands on the metaphysical and
expressive ideas that I have drawn
from Near Eastern mysticism:
investigation of the nexus of
internal and external universes.
All
things
are connected in a cosmic web. To
me, the interrelations and
interactions between the parts of
the whole are more important than
the parts themselves. That is why I
like to paint motion with no objects
to move, action without players, and
dance without dancers.
I
work intuitively. When I paint, I am
mindless, yet I am conscious. I feel
that my timeless inner presence is a
medium that carries that which I am
not aware.
I like to share my feeling
of joy and exuberance with others. I
like to show devotion and love and
all other pleasures of the world in
their most sensual grace and
timelessness.
